Environmental Consultant, Boulder, CO

PRIZIM Inc. is seeking a unique mid-level professional consultant in the Boulder, CO area with knowledge of both the technical and legal aspects of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), and an understanding of financial accounting requirements associated with reporting environmental and disposal liabilities (EDL) for federal, state, local, or publicly-held entities. This individual will be a member of a PRIZIM team assisting clients with meeting quarterly EDL reporting requirements and undertaking varying assignments requiring knowledge of the CERCLA regulatory process.

The ideal candidate must be able to work independently and as a member of a team and represent the firm and its clients in a positive, professional, and effective manner. Additionally, the candidate must be adaptable to changing priorities, have top-notch communication skills, sound judgment under stress, and instinctively know when to lead and when to follow.

PRIZIM consultants tend to work on a variety of tasks for a range of clients so this position will include work on other environmental consulting projects such as EMS development, sustainability consulting, and regulatory auditing.   

Applicants for this position should have professional-level knowledge of the following:

• Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and/or Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board (FASAB) standards, technical bulletins, and guidance related to environmental liabilities.
• CERCLA, the National Contingency Plan, and other major environmental laws and regulations.

The ideal candidate will possess many of the following qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in science or business and at least 3-4 years of experience in financial accounting/auditing environmental liabilities and project management/consulting associated with CERCLA projects; or similar Master’s degree and 2 years of related experience.
• Experience working and communicating with accountants, lawyers, and engineers on environmental matters.
• Experience working as an environmental specialist at a “Big 4” professional services/accounting firm or other next tier firm, or experience reporting environmental liabilities for a federal, state, local, or publicly-held entity.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with Federal government facilities.

Experience in other areas such as environmental/safety compliance auditing, environmental management systems, energy auditing, and sustainability consulting is a plus.
